IT Housecall handoff

Some problems are faster to fix when someone can see the screen. IT Housecall is a help link: the person presses one button, shares their screen, and talks to an AI that sees it and walks them through the fix. Your IT team gets the summary and recording.

Deskhand can offer that link from chat.

Turn it on

housecall:
  enabled: true
  help_url: https://ithousecall.app/o/acme

Set help_url to your organization’s IT Housecall help portal. help_url is required when enabled: true.

When it offers the link

Deskhand calls its offer_housecall_session tool when:

  • it searched your docs and the answer didn’t solve the problem, or
  • the person asks for a human or a screen share.

It posts the link in the thread. The tool needs no approval.

A fresh link per request

Optionally, Deskhand can open a new IT Housecall ticket for each handoff and post that ticket’s own link instead of the portal:

housecall:
  enabled: true
  help_url: https://ithousecall.app/o/acme
  api_base: https://ithousecall.app
  org_slug: acme

Set api_base and org_slug together. For each offer, Deskhand calls POST {api_base}/api/portal/{org_slug}/tickets and links to {api_base}/h/{token}. If creating the ticket fails, it falls back to help_url. If Deskhand restarts mid-answer, it reuses the link it already created.
